GMC Narayanpet Eligibility Criteria & Qualification

Eligibility follows the National Medical Commission’s Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2024 (notified 17 January 2025) and Regulations-2025 referred to in the notification. Requirements differ by post.

Professor

Academic Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject, with MBBS and the additional PG qualification registered with the Telangana Medical Council.

Experience: Either (i) three years as Associate Professor in the subject in a recognised medical institution, or (ii) a Specialist Medical Officer of the Armed Forces with at least three years of equivalent Associate Professor experience in a teaching hospital of the Armed Forces. In addition, the candidate must have at least two research publications after becoming Associate Professor (amongst the first three authors), must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR), and must undergo the Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) where the subject is covered under undergraduate training. Associate Professor

Academic Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject, with MBBS and additional qualification registered with the Telangana Medical Council.

Experience: Either (i) four years as Assistant Professor in the subject in a recognised medical institution (five years if directly appointed as Assistant Professor in a Government medical institution), or (ii) a Specialist Medical Officer of the Armed Forces with at least five years of clinical experience post-PG, including at least three years teaching as Assistant Professor in a teaching hospital of the Armed Forces. The candidate must also have at least two research publications after becoming Assistant Professor (amongst the first three authors), completed BCBR, and undergone BCME where applicable. A non-teaching Consultant/Specialist/Medical Officer with a PG medical degree and ten years of experience in a Government hospital of at least 220 beds is also eligible, subject to completing BCME and BCBR within two years of appointment.

Assistant Professor

Academic Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject, with MBBS and additional qualification registered with the Telangana Medical Council.

Experience (any one of the following):

• One year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognised medical institution (this requirement is relaxed for those directly appointed as Assistant Professor in a Government medical institute before these regulations; Tutor experience with a PG degree, or Demonstrator experience with an M.Sc. and Ph.D., may be counted as equivalent).
• Specialist Medical Officers of the Armed Forces with at least one year of teaching experience, or two years of clinical experience after the PG qualification.
• A non-teaching Consultant/Specialist/Medical Officer with a PG medical degree and at least two years of experience in a Government hospital of at least 220 beds (must complete BCBR within two years of appointment).
• Diploma holders appointed as Senior Residents in a recognised medical institution before 08.06.2017, with four years’ total Senior Resident experience.
• Diploma holders working as Specialist/Medical Officer in a Government medical institution running an NBEMS-recognised teaching programme, with cumulative six years’ experience.

Tutor

Academic Qualification: MBBS or an equivalent degree, registered with the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC).

CAS Specialist (Contractual Appointee Specialist)

General Academic Requirement: MD/DNB/Diploma in the concerned subject, with MBBS and additional qualification registered with the Telangana Medical Council.

GMC Narayanpet Age Limit

The notification specifies that applicants for the posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor must be below 69 years of age. The age limit for the Tutor and CAS Specialist posts is not specified in the notification.

GMC Narayanpet Salary 2026 (Consolidated Remuneration)

Remuneration is a consolidated, all-inclusive amount, subject to deduction of income tax and any other statutory deductions, as prescribed in G.O.Rt.No.1276, Finance (HRM.VII) Department, dated 16.07.2026.

Salary/remuneration is payable strictly on the basis of attendance recorded through the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS), as per applicable Government rules.

GMC Narayanpet Selection Process

Selection is made in accordance with the NMC Post-Graduate Medical Education Board’s Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2024, and the following criteria set out in the notification:

• Tutor: Selection is based on the theory marks obtained in MBBS.
• Assistant Professor: Selection is based on the theory marks obtained in the MD/MS/DNB/MDS/M.Sc. (Clinical) postgraduate qualification. Where marks are not awarded in the qualifying exam, 50% of the maximum marks is considered for this purpose.
• Teaching Experience: For all cadres/posts, the duration of teaching experience in the respective cadre/post is considered as one of the selection criteria.
• Rule of Reservation: Applicable only where more than one vacancy is notified under a particular post/category, as per applicable Government rules.
• DNB Candidates: Considered for selection as per the latest prevailing NMC guidelines.
• Additional Weightage: Extra weightage/points are given to candidates who have previously worked, or are presently working, at Government Medical College & General Hospital, Narayanpet.
• Final Authority: The decision of the Selection Committee is final and binding on all matters relating to recruitment and selection.

GMC Narayanpet Contract Terms & Conditions

• The appointment is purely temporary and contractual, valid up to 31.03.2027, or until the vacancy is filled through promotion/regular appointment, whichever is earlier. It does not confer any right or claim to regular appointment or future Government employment.
• Selected faculty are eligible for 15 days of Casual Leave and 5 Optional Holidays per calendar year, on a cumulative basis, subject to applicable rules.
• If a selected candidate does not join within the stipulated time, the next eligible candidate on the merit list may be considered.
• A candidate wishing to resign must give one month’s prior notice; the institute may likewise terminate the contract with one month’s notice, without assigning any reason.
• Selected faculty must be available to the institution on a whole-time basis and must submit an undertaking to render services during National Health Emergencies or other public health emergencies.
• Original certificates are verified at joining and remain in the custody of the Principal, Government Medical College, Narayanpet.
