PSSSB Clerk Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following educational qualification, to be assessed as on the last date of application submission:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution, or its equivalent
  • At least a 120-hour course with working experience in the use of Personal Computers/Information Technology in Office Productivity Applications or Desktop Publishing Applications from a Government-recognized or ISO 9001-certified institution, OR a Computer/Information Technology course equivalent to the ‘O’ level certificate of DOEACC, Government of India
  • Matriculation-level Punjabi or an equivalent qualification, as required under Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994
  • A mandatory qualifying test of Punjabi Language equivalent to Matriculation standard, with a minimum of 50% marks, conducted in addition to the competitive examination

PSSSB Clerk Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 01.01.2026:

  • Minimum age: 18 years for all categories
  • General category: maximum 37 years
  • SC and BC candidates who are residents of Punjab: maximum 42 years
  • State and Central Government employees: maximum 45 years
  • Ex-servicemen (residents of Punjab): as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1982, as amended from time to time
  • Physically Handicapped candidates (residents of Punjab): maximum 47 years (10 years’ relaxation)
  • Widows, divorcees, and certain other categories of married women: relaxation up to 40 years

PSSSB Clerk Selection Process

  • An objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions) written examination will be held in two parts — Part A and Part B
  • Part A: Matriculation-level Punjabi Language paper, of qualifying nature only; a minimum of 50% marks is required to qualify
  • Part B: The merit list is prepared based only on marks obtained in Part B; each question carries 1 mark, and 1/4 mark is deducted for each wrong answer
  • A Typing Test in English and Punjabi at a speed of 30 words per minute will be conducted on computer for candidates called as per the competent authority’s decision; the Punjabi typing test will be in Unicode-compliant Raavi font
  • The typing test is of qualifying nature only and must be qualified
  • The Common Merit List is prepared based on Part-B marks of candidates who qualify the typing test
  • In case of a tie in merit, preference is given first by date of birth (older candidate ranked higher), then by percentage of marks in the required educational qualification, and then by Matriculation marks
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling/document verification

How to Apply for PSSSB Clerk Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official website at sssb.punjab.gov.in and click on the “Apply Online” link
  2. New candidates should click “Registration” and fill in their details to generate a User ID and Password
  3. Login using the registered User ID and proceed with the online application
  4. Fill in personal, educational, and other required details accurately and completely
  5. Upload a passport-size photograph (or capture a live photo) and a scanned copy of the signature
  6. Click “Save Draft” or “Next” to proceed
  7. Click “Attach Annexure” and upload scanned copies of the 10th-class certificate, educational qualification certificates, and other mandatory documents, then click “Save Documents”
  8. Click “Make Payment” and pay the applicable fee online
  9. Click “Submit” to complete the application, and take a printout of the submitted Application Form for future reference

PSSSB Clerk Important Instructions

  • Candidates who already applied under the original Advertisement No. 02/2026 window need not apply again
  • A Domicile/Residence Certificate (not more than 5 years old) is mandatory for availing reservation benefits, and is applicable only to residents of Punjab
  • Category and category code cannot be changed at any stage after submission — candidates should fill the online form carefully
  • No corrections are permitted once the Application Form is submitted
  • Applications or fees submitted through any method other than the official online process will not be considered valid
  • Only the candidate’s own mobile number and email address must be used in the application
  • No TA/DA will be paid to candidates called for the written examination or counseling
  • All updates regarding exam pattern, schedule, Admit Card, result, and merit list will be published only on the Board’s official website; no individual communication will be sent to candidates
